Welcome to Crashpod 4.0

We love the web.

Welcome to the new hotness Crashnauts! After a week of diving into Wordpress, we’re happy to launch this far more robust and mature version of Crashpod. The Wordpress publishing system truly is a great example of the open-source software movement: installing the scripts and creating the new Crashpod theme was surprisingly simple, with only a few bumps and twists here and there.

One of the first things I’d like to advocate is for everyone to sign up for a Crashpod account. Just hit the login link and you’ll see the option for registration. It’s a quick and simple process, and you can have Crashpod remember you, so you won’t have to login or enter your name each time you comment.

In addition to comments, registered users can now post Destination Links directly, no more waiting for your lazy admins catch up on their email. This kind of instant gratification is something I’ve been wanting give users for a while, as the more you can interact with a website, the more interesting it becomes.

In the future we hope to continue adding features to the pod: stick around and see what happens!

The photo at the top… what is it of? My guess is a certain building in Bilbao, Spain. Am I correct?

We’ll see if we can get Justin’s input on the location of the building: I believe we got it off a flickr masthead collection.

Curious!

I was thinking the Guggenheim in Bilbao, but it could be anything, so long as it was designed by Gehry.

I like the new look. Im working on implementing Wordpress into my current site also. I should have thought about that before the designing was fully done. Oh well.

Well, as good as Wordpress is, it’s always best to start out with a solid design: you’ve got a very cool match between your color scheme and photos going, well done!

Actually, it’s not that cool. I got the image from a Creative Commons photostream over at Flickr. As I remember, the photographer said it was a building at Epcot down in Orlando, Florida.

I’m liking the new redesign, especially the texturing on the tan background. Subtle.
Good Job!
