We love the web.

Nitro Powered

Can't buy this at CompUsa!These liquid nitrogen cooled overclockers are getting crazy! Apparently a Japanese overclocker was able to push his Intel Pentium 4 670 to 7.1Ghz using a liquid nitrogen cooled setup. According to the statement, he was able to set a world record on calculating pi to 1 million places in 18.516 seconds.

The speed and power of the PC have reached a level such that most home users have little need to continue upgrading. It’s good to see enthusiasts are still pushing the limits of home PC hardware. Sustaining this market will continue to lead to new materials for processors and the need to increase system memory. How would 8GB sticks of RAM sound?

Top 20 Games That Nobody Played - But You Should

Call me Rocket WhoreIt’s good to know your roots. Great games define the electronic entertainment genre, and still more titles barely deserve the classification of “game”, their gameplay and design being so universally deplored. Yet there still exists a middle ground of games that slipped through the cracks, denied the recognition of their strengths, the extent of their innovation.

Have a look at the list, and see how you rate on the old-school gaming scale. Me? I’m only rocking a 4 out of 20: hardly a score worth of envy.

Welcome to Crashpod 4.0

Welcome to the new hotness Crashnauts! After a week of diving into Wordpress, we’re happy to launch this far more robust and mature version of Crashpod. The Wordpress publishing system truly is a great example of the open-source software movement: installing the scripts and creating the new Crashpod theme was surprisingly simple, with only a few bumps and twists here and there.

One of the first things I’d like to advocate is for everyone to sign up for a Crashpod account. Just hit the login link and you’ll see the option for registration. It’s a quick and simple process, and you can have Crashpod remember you, so you won’t have to login or enter your name each time you comment.

In addition to comments, registered users can now post Destination Links directly, no more waiting for your lazy admins catch up on their email. This kind of instant gratification is something I’ve been wanting give users for a while, as the more you can interact with a website, the more interesting it becomes.

In the future we hope to continue adding features to the pod: stick around and see what happens!

A Well Deserved Break

This week I’m fortunate enough to be spending some time unwinding and generally cooling down during my first break from the new job. Whilst off, I’ll be investing a good deal of my time giving crashpod some of the tender lovin’ care she’s been deserving for the last couple months.

So, in typical style I’m just tossing that out there so anybody noticing problems, breakages, and or total catastrophic meltdowns will give us the benefit of the doubt, knowing we’ve got your best interests at heart. With that said, I’ve got some improvements and surprises in store, so keep any eye out as we move away from the oft-maligned Nucleus CMS to a shiny new Version 2.0 install of Wordpress!
