A few touch ups went live this weekend: just some minor style tweaks I’ve been meaning to get to for a while. We’re also sporting the final release of Wordpress 2.0, nicknamed “Duke” after the immortal Duke Ellington.
As always the upgrade process was a breeze, and the code base is intuitive and easy to work with. I’m continually amazed at how well the Wordpress developers separated the core function set of Wordpress from the theme system: I was only required to make 2 minor changes in the actual Wordpress template files to get Crashpod working the way it is today. Everything else is straight up theme files that are non-version specific: even the destination posting! In short this means that as new versions of Wordpress 2.0 are released, I won’t be required to constantly re-edit the same files to keep the site operational. This is a huge benefit, something that Nucleus was never able to realize.
The tech world is in full swing right now, with CES producing an incredible amount of news on gadgets, computers, and software. On top of that, the big Macworld San Fran expo kicked off today, with the impending Steve Jobs keynote getting people pondering the chances of intel ibooks, HD Mac minis, and Apple branded HDTVs. January is off to a great start!
