I don’t get it. You know, it’s kind of funny to me. I have a PC, but I only own one thing that’s made by Microsoft, the OS. I could care less about their brand of anything. But to dutifully combat you apple nerds, I have to say it. If Apple is really such a superior brand (that’s all it is really, a brand), then why doesn’t everyone already use it already?
I bet there are more ipods hooked up to pcs than macs.
I think it’s more of a study in different marketing styles. Apple is able to leverage just their brand alone whereas Microsoft is forced to try and “spice up” products to make them stand out from all the other vanilla PC products.
Also it came out later that this video was made by Microsoft staff as a little inside joke.
Skettios, are you still bringing that weak-ass “why is Apple’s market share so low” argument?
That’s 2002 thinking bro! With the rise of linux, open source, and the web 2.0 movement, nobody cares. Apple’s raking in the cash, and their users are benefiting form a great OS product that sees consistent, meaningful updates. The computing landscape has grown so vast it can support this environment now, in addition to all of the windows users and linux faithful, not to mention the l337 haxxors creating mods for game consoles and legacy hardware.
Where Apple is getting it right is, as you said, their brand image. They sell themselves as intelligent, hip producers of digital lifestyle goods, and it’s working really well for them. I don’t have any doubt that both MS and Sony will begin to emulate more and more of Apple’s techniques, and that’s fine: that’s how the market works, and hopefully the consumer will benefit from it.

The best part about this is that Microsoft did the piece. It was an internal project by their Packaging team to discuss new direction.

Nyeh, well sometimes the RSS feed on this website doesn’t load very fast!
I still don’t feel like I’m being left out because I don’t own a mac.

I still don’t feel left out of by not owning a mac.
My Apple stock is making some serious money, lately.
