So during a drive back into the Metro area on Sunday I stopped by a brand new convenience store that opened up a few weeks ago. It was your standard fare Marathon joint: junk food, refrigerators stocked full of ridiculous energy drinks that for some reason intrigue me, zippos featuring little skulls with red LEDs for eyes… The kind of place we’ve all been to a million times. What set it apart though, was this sound.
Recognize it? It’s the sound of collecting rings in Sonic the hedgehog!
I kept thinking there was a kid with a handheld game or some sort of a game terminal, but it turned out to be the sound effect the store’s point of sale system used to indicate a completed transaction.
Needless to say, I’m seriously considering quitting my job and relocating.
