PS3 Jaw Dropper

We love the web.

Finally some details have been revealed about Sony’s PS3 console, and the results could be devastating for all parties involved.Playstation 3

First off, and potentially the most shocking: The PS3 controller will feature motion sensing capabilities much like Nintendo’s Wii console. The union of a traditional gamepad with this next-gen control scheme is beyond earth shattering, and it could very well be the nuclear option that seals the Xbox 360’s fate. If Sony is able to provide fluent control schemes for first-person perspective games right off the bat, I’m just not sure there will be a way to justify the admittedly cumbersome functionality of joystiq camera control and movement.

On the other hand, the price points of the PS3 have also been revealed: $499 for the package with a 20gig HD, and $599 for a 60gig version.

Ouch.

This is about the best that Microsoft could hope for, but if I were them I’d be shaking in my boots at the news of the PS3’s advanced controller capabilities.

[update]

Sony claims new PS3 controller will NOT have vibration support! OMGWTFBBQ?! Claiming that controller rumble interferes with the motion sensing functionality of the PS3 controller, Sony has removed this feature completely? Unacceptable! If the Wiimote can do it, why can’t the Playstation?

$600 is ridiculous for a launch price, and it’s almost pointless to get the $500 one because it’s so much less HD space, and no HDMI input. That’s shitty.

I guess I should start saving.
