Philips Norelco has a hilarious internet ad up for their new Bodygroom personal
shaver system. I found the ad after reading about it in a special Wall Street Journal report about new methods of marketing. The explosion of different entertainment options is causing marketers to seek out new and innovative ways of catching and keeping consumer attention and viral ads like this one are proving quite sucessful. According to Philips Norelco, the site has already brought in 1.3 million unique viewers and has catapulted sales to six times what they expected for the period.
I can’t imagine an ad this suggestive about grooming one’s intimate areas would every fly on American television given the FCCs recent clampdown. But (so far) the internet is still free game! Be sure not to miss the voicemails part of the ad.
