Bluetooth Laser Virtual Keyboards Now Available

We love the web.

Those fancy laser-projected keyboards that started showing up around the web last year are now shipping to consumers. This unit, for sale over at ThinkGeek for $179.99, is about the size of a matchbook and projects a full Qwerty keyboard for use with bluetooth equipped devices. The level of compatibility is quite impressive, 6 different operating systems are supported including Nokia’s Symbian and Palm’s OS 5  (though Mac OS X support is “limited”).

Using one of these with a Treo or nicely equipped PDA could make for a viable laptop replacement!

I was thinking about that too but from the pic it almost seeems like you would naturally take an ergonomic approach to the keyboard. Since it’s flat on the table in front of you instead of angled up on a traditional keyboard I would think that you would have to sort of float your hands over it (no resting the palms) which is the correct way they taught us all to type back in school. Would that help? Not sure, but the fact that it makes typing sounds as you hit the keys is pretty swell…
