We love the web.
Here’s a quick overview of the Sony Mylo. This is the “not a mobile phone, not a UMPC” device that Sony is bringing to market. It actually surprised me with some of the services it does incorporate. It has wi-fi so you can use Skype for voice communication, as well as Google Talk and Yahoo! IM. You can stream mp3s off of other nearby Mylo users and the device also supports photos and videos. It ships with an Opera browser so you get a nice full featured way of browsing the web.
It’s going to be an interesting year for gadgets. I bet we see an increasing number of these hybrid devices coming out during 2007.

It’s cute, but the only advantage it has over a decent smartphone like my Nokia N80 is that it’s got that keyboard.
Frankly playing with my wifi enabled devices I have noticed that wifi is everywhere, but so much of it is WEP protected now that it’s not a practical means of accessing the web everywhere you go. If you want to do that you still need to pay for that service through your cell phone provider which negates the wifi function anyway.
Streaming music is nice, but how is that better than just using bluetooth to get the songs and stuff you want from your friends? I’ve found Bluetooth to be a little slow, but very convenient for that kind of thing.
agreed on the WEP, yet Oakland county is on the brink of being wireless, even though it is 128k, it still is just fine for what our phones can offer us. If you have t-mobile you get thier data plan which includes free access to all of the t-mobile hotspots at starbucks and other joints like that. for 20 or 30 bucks a month it isn’t bad considering I pay 20 bucks a month for unlimited access through cingular, yet only for edge connections (2g), not any wifi.
Personally, I am more interested to see what imate and HTC are bringing, Windows mobile 6, 4gb drives, Svga screens, etc.
