A Front Door and Four Wheels

We love the web.

The move is going well so far, I’ve secured a nice 2 bedroom apartment that sits right between Santa Clara and Sunnyvale, just a hair over 5 miles from the Apple campus in Cupertino. Picked up a new car as well, which turned out to be a lot more convenient than shipping something all the way from the midwest. The subtle differences in driving between California and Michigan are definitely a challenge: legally sanctioned U-turns and car pool lanes offer just enough disparity to keep you on your toes whenever you find yourself on the road.

My first day is monday the 12th, and the prospect of settling back into a half-way normal work schedule is sounding great right about now. Lots of challenges to come, it’ll be nice to finally dig in!

After 2 weeks off, I hope I still remember how to code…

$5 gas! Damns, glad I don’t roll with premium. Still it’s like $3.30 for regular, filling up is painful.

And if trying to pull some sweet donut turns on a multi-hundred ton oil tanker is wrong… Well then I don’t want to be right.

lol no, mine just has the aux jack. I tried out the ipod dock with my iphone though, and wasn’t too impressed with how it treated the folder/playlist system. Maybe this new VW touch interface system that’s being talked about will introduce some refinements on that front!

Mine hasn’t got an iPod dock either, being a 2004. It _does_ have a tape deck, though, so I run my iPod through that with one of those old CD -> tape adapters. It’s not as good as an aux input, but the sound quality is waaaay better than the FM transmitter.
